The Remains of the Day | Adaptations
Michael York reads a successful abridgement of The Remains of the Day for Random House Audio (1989). This version of the novel retains the emotional force of the plot and York's reading is skillful, but the loss of background material and some important incidents in the abridgement make this adaptation an inadequate substitute for the book in print.
