What are the best and worst aspects of being female?

Women are able to have babies, but on the other hand, women get pregnant and have periods.

In the brain, the corpus callosum connects the right and left hemispheres.  In women, the cc is more robust, so women are able to blend right and left brain thinking.

Women are usually physically weaker than men.

Women are more susceptible to some illnesses than men, and less susceptible to others.

There continues to be discrimination against women in the workplace, both in hiring and compensation.  However, a talented woman may have a bit of an advantage in hiring since many companies want to show that they are progressive.

Your question can be answered from several different frames of reference and is very subjective, so it is in that vein I offer the 'best and worst' aspects of being female.  Biologically, women regard childbirth as the ultimate expression of being female, however it is only through great pain that they are able to experience this expression demonstrating 'the best and worst' simultaneously. Politically, women were not low on the list, they were not even on the list until 1920. Being denied political power clearly makes the 'worst aspect' side of the list. The 19th Amendment offers 'the best'. Socially,although American society is currently experiencing a shift in the status-quo of the traditional family structure,  the data reveals that responsibility of childrearing still resides with the female. Depending upon the woman's situation, this experience could fall into either category.

From what is being reported on the news lately, job layoffs are occurring at a much higher rate with men.  So, employment is a good aspect right now. On the other hand, this situation can cause resentment of women in the workplace.

During the Vietnam era, certainly women were relieved to know that they could not be drafted into this most unpopular war.  Knowing that one does not have to enter into combat without wishing to is still a good aspect.  For example, if a female is an employee of the Federal Prison System, she does not have to participate in any riot control as do all the male employees in the main buildings.

A good and bad aspect depending upon the mother:  Studies show that people are more psychologically influenced as children by their mother's than by any one else.

Studies also reveal that women live longer lives on the average than men--a definite plus.

I do not like to think of any aspects of men and women as essentially good or bad. Yes there are some inherent differences between men and women when compared statistically. But the characteristic may be an advantage and limitation under different situations.

So what I will do here is just to list some of the differences between men and women that are either obvious or have been established by serious scientific studies.

1. We all know that women bear children while men don't. There are a few other related differences, which need no further elaboration.
2. It has been established by ergonomic studies that women are general smaller in body size and strength.
3. It has been established by many psychological and sociological studies that women tend to be more emotional and relationship orients as compared to men. An exaggerated picture of these differences is provided in the popular book "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus" by John Gray.

The best and worst aspects of being female?  The best is that they have children, and the worst is that they are "the fairer" sex: weaker; more emotional, etc. I can see the inherent characteristics from gatherer to housewife in a society which can be unforgiving and relentless. It wa sonly last year that Korean women could divorce a husband, but even still, the household registry in Korea can not have a female name.
