Children learn and develop, not only in schools or when they are engaged in formal studies. The whole life of children, including the time they spend in their homes and with their friends for purposes other than studies, adds to their education and development. Main impact of boarding school as compared to day schools is that it replaces the care and learning children receive at homes and with their parents and family with that of residential facilities of boarding school. I see the residential facilities, environment and associate development of child offered by boarding schools has a distinct advantage over homes only in limited cases where for some reasons the homes cannot offer the love, security, and parental guidance typically associated with it. In some cases, the formal education becomes the main consideration. For example when parents are living in some foreign country on a temporary assignment or if they are transferred frequently, boarding schools offer a better formal education. It also eliminates need for changing schools frequently, which can put additional psychological pressure on tender minds of young children. Posted by krishna-agrawala on Nov 4, 2009. |

I teach at a boarding school. Here are some benefits. But it really depends on the school. 1. You really gain a sense of community. You will make some of your life friends here. 2. Now if you hate the school, then this is, of course, not a positive point. 3. You have more time to get things done, because you cut down on travel time. 4. Peer pressure can be positive and negative. It really depends on the culture of the school. If the boarding school is a good one, then it can great great people.
