One of the most pressing but neglected subjects in the war on terrorism is the relationship between immigration and terrorism. For example, the terrorists responsible for the September 11, 2001, attacks entered the country from the Middle East legally, although many of their visas had expired before the attacks. Tightening the border and restricting immigration are as critical to reducing terrorism as are military operations abroad.
