These kidnappers succeed in getting the boy, but they don't keep him long...in fact, they pay his guardians to take him back! He is not a very well-behaved child and they didn't count on that. I guess the answer to your question would be that the kidnappers should have done more research...who is the boy, what is he like, and prepare to subdue him in some way so that they could collect ransom instead of paying it out.
