The original title is appropriate but not as compelling as the one Austen and her publishers ultimately decided upon.  You know the old saying, "You never get another chance to make a first impression."  Well, that may be true but Austen goes to great lengths to show how erroneous judging someone by apperance can be.  Think of Wickham, who, judged solely by his exterior, proves to have a dark heart.  In fact, each character, save perhaps Jane and Bingley, are judged by first impressions improperly.  Our first impressions are often colored by our own "pride" and "prejudices" which are formed largely from our own opinions of ourselves, and we project those feelings on those we encounter.
