Education

Reagan was a sociology and economics major at Eureka College in Eureka, Illinois, but did not study hard. He held a partial athletic scholarship and lettered in two sports, washed dishes in his fraternity house and, when only a freshman, played a leading role in a student strike to fire an unpopular college president. He acted in seven college plays and impressed his drama coaches with a confident stage manner. In his senior year Reagan was president of the students' booster club. He graduated with a B.A. in 1932 when the Depression was at its worst.
