Early Life
Franklin Pierce was born in a log home on November 23, 1804, among the hills of Hillsborough County, New Hampshire. Franklin's father, General Benjamin Pierce, was a veteran of the American Revolution (1775–83) who was active in local politics. Anna Kendrick Pierce, Franklin's mother and Benjamin's second wife, was known as a lively and tender soul.
