Eisenhower retired to his farm at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Bombarded with requests for interviews and advice, he remained a figure in the public eye. He also devoted more time than ever to his favorite pastimes of painting, golf, and bridge, and he dabbled in raising cattle and feed crops. Forty-three-year-old president John F. Kennedy, whom Eisenhower regarded as too young, vulgar, and inexperienced to run the country, asked for Eisenhower's advice after the disastrous failure of the Bay of Pigs invasion in Cuba (See also, Kennedy Administration), but otherwise Kennedy did not draw on Eisenhower's experience.
