Post-presidential Years
Following defeat Harrison returned to Indianapolis to resume legal practice. Over the next several years he worked on many prominent cases, including a dispute between British Guiyana and Venezuela. During this time Harrison also published This Country of Ours (Scribners, 1898). In 1901 Harrison caught a cold that turned into pneumonia. He succumbed to complications on March 13, at the age of 68. After his death his wife published lectures he had given at Stanford University in 1894 as Views of an Ex-President.
