Since humans are the only species that aspire, life means to constantly desire to become something better.

Life, A beautiful gift from God to all human beings.I think that life is basket of happiness and worries.

Two things, I think:

First, to experience as many aspects of the human experience as you can.

Second, to seek always to be a better person -- which contains within it doing everything you can to improve others' experience of life.

For me life is a journey.

We do experience enjoyment and happiness in our life from time to time, enjoyment or happiness but that is not the ultimate goal of life. There is something to life that is more than the joy of living. If it was not so, there would be no point in living when we see no hope of happiness.

When we are travelling from one place to another, we may or may not find the journey enjoyable, but we continue with the journey anyhow, because our goal is not the enjoyment of the journey. Goal of the journey is to reach a destination.

This question doesn't really belong in a science group, but in a philosophy group. But since it is here, I'll give a DNA based answer. The meaning/purpose of life and living things is to perpetuate their own kind, in an evolutionary sense.  You can think of it as the shape of any animal or plant is the one that best enables that organism's DNA to perpetuate itself. All we really are is the best adapted form for our DNA to continue itself.

Now that is definitely a question that everybody thinks of in their day-to-day life, yet it is impossible to find a universal answer.

For myself, the meaning of life is to aspire to be a better person, to live a better life, and to help one's friends and family. Considering that a lot of terrible things happen in this world and that there are a lot of horribly depressing thoughts to think, it's probably best to think about life this way.

As pessimistic as I may sound, I believe there is NO meaning to life. What is it's sole purpose? What does being alive impact? It is like asking "Why do people produce literature, movies, music?" It is a relative question that has the simple answer of "it is entertaining to someone or something.

Look at how popular that Sims computer game is where you create a society. Why do you? You dont need to, they dont impact you directly; yet, you do it.

That is my broad opinion on all life as a whole. Now if we were to talk about it in the rhelm of HUMAN LIFE, then it is up to the individual and his/her personal beliefs. If you want to take the biblical route - we are here to protect the earth and all of God's creatures (bang up job we are doing now eh?). Scientifically speaking - we are here because of mutations in DNA and cells and will evolve into something else thereby perpetuating the perfection of life and evolution (sorry to burst your bubble if you thought we were perfect).
