Exploration, Colonization
"A Method of Reaching Extreme Altitudes" by Massachusetts physicist Robert H. (Hutchings) Goddard, 36, predicts the development of rockets that will break free of Earth's gravitational pull and reach the moon, a dream that he has harbored since his teens (see Tsiolkovsky, 1911). Goddard has devised the first two-stage rocket; he received a grant from the Smithsonian Institution 2 years ago (see 1926; New York Times, 1921).
