Hilton Hotel Corp. has its beginnings at Crisco, Texas, where entrepreneur Conrad (Nicholson) Hilton, 31, uses his life savings of $5,000 to finance the purchase of the small Mobley Hotel. A partner in his father's mercantile interests at San Antonio, New Mexico, before the war, Hilton will soon acquire several other small Texas hotels and build a new hotel at Dallas in 1925 (see 1945).
