California Perfume Co. has 5,000 door-to-door saleswomen (see 1886). They offer not only perfume but also cologne, Sweet Sixteen Face Powder, Rose Lip Pomade, headache cures, shaving soap, tooth-cleaning tablets, shoe cleaner, furniture polish, spot remover, moth-proofer, food flavorings, and cookbooks (see 1929).

George Vuitton brands his late father's initials on the canvas luggage he has created, hoping to discourage imitators (see 1854). The name Louis Vuitton has gained wide acceptance for trunks and cases, and the French firm will introduce them in the United States in 1902.
