Travels in the Interior of Africa by Mungo Park is published at London (see 1796). Park has returned from 19 months of travels that followed his escape from 4 months' imprisonment after being captured by an Arab chief. He will make a second expedition to the Niger in 1805 and will reach Bamako before perishing in the rapids during an attack by the natives in 1806.
