Nüzhen (Juchen) tribesmen on China's northern border defeat the armies of China's 13th Song (Sung) dynasty emperor Ning Zong (Ning Tsun), they demand a large indemnity, and when Ning's prime minister Han Touzhou (Han T'o-chou) tries to halt negotiations he is assassinated by his own people and his head is presented to the Nüzhen in hopes of conciliating them (see 1208).

Commerce

Liverpool becomes the chief English port for trade with Ireland; silting up of the river Dee has made the approach to Chester unnavigable.
