Educator Ranks

The highest rank for an eNotes educator, given only at the discretion of the managing editor. An educator must show consistently outstanding contributions, as well as surpassing the point total required of an Educator Emeritus.

Educator Emeritus is the highest educator rank, other than Distinguished Educator, and is earned upon the accumulation of 50,000 points. Only a handful of eNotes educators have achieved this rank.

An educator achieves the rank of full educator upon surpassing 15,000 points. The educator joins a small group of the most committed eNotes educators.

An assistant educator becomes an associate educator upon surpassing the 5,000 point total. At this point, the educator has demonstrated a significant commitment to editing on eNotes.

An assistant educator is the entry level rank for an educator, achieved when the application is approved by the managing educator.

Educator Awards

The scholar award is given at the discretion of the managing educator, and is awarded for consistently intelligent or insightful contributions to the Homework Help or sharing great documents in the Document Exchange.

An expert award is given by showing particular knowledge in a particular topic, such as Hamlet or Math. It is awarded when the total contributions to that topic (answers plus discussion posts) surpasses 25.

The instructor award is given by making 20 or more contributions to our teacher group. It signifies an active and engaged teacher or other educator on eNotes.

The scribe badge is awarded when a user has several written assignments published to the website. You must become an educator and complete written assignments before earning this badge.

Non-Educator Ranks

A user becomes a valedictorian on accumulating 2000 points.

A user becomes a salutatorian on accumulating 1000 points.

A user achieves honors on accumulating 400 points.

The eNoter badge is awarded when a user surpasses 150 points.

The newbie badge is awarded to all new users.

Non-Educator Awards

The teaching assistant badge is awarded when a user makes 100 or more contributions in the Homework Help area.

The Tutor badge is given when a user makes 50 or more contributions to the Homework Help area.

The Prefect badge is given when a user correctly flags 10 or more items, such as an innappropriate question or answer.

The Dean's List badge is given when a user rates 10 or more answers, and also asks a question and marks one of the answers as best.

How do I earn points?
Users earn points by making contributions to the site. Currently, you can earn points in a variety of ways, such as answering questions or sharing your documents. You can view all the ways in which you can earn points.
How do I earn a badge?
Badges can be earned in a variety of ways, and by all types of users. Some badges, such as the Educator Ranking badges, require that you first become an eNotes educator. But most badges can be earned by anyone and depend on how many points you have earned, how many contributions you have made to the site, and in which subjects. You can view the different badges and how they are earned.
