Mr Samir Gibrial
Bio
Samir Gibrail from Alexandria, Egypt. Samir is team teaching in the AMES Arabic language classes with AMES host teacher, Michelle Safadi. Samir’s involvement at AMES is sponsored by the U.S. Dept of State Teacher of Critical Language Program. One of the key components of the TCLP is having the exchange teacher visit other schools and present on their country’s history, geography, culture, educational system, and of course, the Arabic language. Background/Bio: Samir is a teacher of English at the Mohamed Zahran Experimental High School in Alexandria where he has been teaching English for 14 years. Samir began studying English when he was 5 years old. While this is Samir’s first experience in the United States, he has completed studies in the United Kingdom, specifically at the University of Edinburg in Scotland. Samir is available to make presentations in your secondary schools about Egypt and Egyptian culture, history, art and Arabic language. Samir is the father of three children ages 9, 7 and 2; his wife is a secondary math teacher in Alexandria. Samir’s hobbies include soccer, music, and reading. Contact Information: Samir can be reached at AMES: 801-278-9460, Ext. 164; samirn20000@yahoo.com; sgibrail@ames-slc.org. Please be advised that Samir teaches every other day (B days if you are a Granite teacher). Also, schools inviting Samir need to assist with his transportation since he does not have a vehicle. Further questions or inquiries, please feel free to contact me.
