About Me
We are all crazy here!
Bio
I have always wanted to be a teacher. I grew up in Tennessee and as a child I had to be the teacher when we were playing school or I would be the rotten kid in class. My mother was a teacher, elementary grades in Tennessee, then high school math when we moved to New Jersey. We moved when I was 16. Culture shock doesn't even begin to describe the angst. I often felt, as a high school student, that I could do a better job than some of my instructors. I hated school! After 11 years I finally graduated from a local community college. I still hated school! Then I had my daughter; I got serious about what I wanted to do when I grew up. I considered that I always wanted to be a teacher, teaching was a good mom-job, and I wanted to create a place where kids would not hate school, at least in my classroom. I graduated with a degree in English Education. Later I went back and actually got my master's in administration, but I find it hard to think about leaving my kids (students). I have been a teacher at Lakewood High School for 18 years and I still love it. I try very hard to be the teacher who can make a student like English again. So far I think I have been successful.
