   Paul is a noncomformist adolescent whose passion for music, especially the opera, and for the finer things in life led him to an act of desperation. The desdain he felt extended to every aspect his life, especially the fact that his dreams of grandeur and luxury are often marred by his middle class reality.

   He found an opening to partially fulfilling his dreams as a part-time usher at Carnegie Hall, where he enjoyed the opera, which he loves the most, and was able to see the rich and he fabulous all around him.

   After meeting a friend actor who basically enticed him to "go for his dreams" in any way possible, Paul embezzled money from the company Denny and Carson (to whom he owed money), and embarked to New York with the stolen money, spent it on expensive clothes and residency at the Waldorf Astoria, and lived among the dandies as long as the money was available. Once the money ran out, his father went after him because the theft was discovered, and he was basically a wanted man. However, it was never to be, since Paul jumped off the train where he was trying to escape and died in the railroad tracks committing suicide.
