The play recognizes the differences in everyone, but insists upon the ability of people to come together. Characters in the play struggle with their differences and with forgiveness. This is a play full of duality and conflict, and the constant struggle to overcome the negativity of the idea of "them" in favor of the hope of the idea of "us".
