"Pantomime" by Derek Walcott deals with themes of diversity in an age of colonialism and difficult race relations. The play recognizes the differences in everyone, but insists upon the ability of people to come together. Characters in the play struggle with their differences and with forgiveness. This is a play full of duality and conflict, and the constant struggle to overcome the negativity of the idea of "them" in favor of the hope of the idea of "us".
