Baço, Jaime
Baço, Jaime (also called Master Jacomart) (b Valencia, c.1411; d Valencia, 16 July 1461).Spanish painter. He was the leading artist of his day in Valencia, working at the court of Alfonso V of Aragon and his son and successor John II. Documents show that he was held in high regard by his royal masters and he twice accompanied Alfonso on military campaigns in Italy. However, little or nothing survives from his own hand. The main work associated with him is a polyptych of St Lawrence and St Peter in the church at Catí near Valencia, commissioned in 1460, but it is believed to have been executed largely by assistants or collaborators. He had a frequent collaborator called Juan Rexach (active 1431–84) and also seems to have worked with a painter called Pere Rexach (active 1452–72), who was presumably related to Juan.
