I think you mean the Moors. A Moor is a person who comes from Morocco, but for Shakespeare's audience it would have had a much deeper meaning. The fact that Othello is a Moor indicates his "otherness"/position as an outsider. In addition, a Moor would have carried the connotation of something devilish for Shakespeare's audience.
