Lodovico's role, although small, is important to show the change in Othello from the beginning of the play and his transformation to the end of the book. Lodovico knew Othello in Venice and has been removed from all the action that has been going on. So when he arrives in Cyprus and sees the new and not-so-improved Othello, he is completely shocked.

He acts as one of the messengers going from Vernice to Cyprus, meaning he send messages from different kings from Vernice and Cyprus. He is also one of Branbazio's kingsman.
