After setting sail, Posiedon sees that he is alone in the sea and creates a huge storm to make him suffer. This destroys his ship and Odysseus is then lost at sea. With the help of a sea nymph, he is washed ashore on the the Land of the Phaeacians. That is how he arrives on their land.
