Len, a 21-year-old youth, and Pam, a slightly older woman he has just met, make love in the living room of her parents' home. Len moves in with Pam and discovers that her parents Harry and Mary have hardly spoken since their son was killed by a bomb in the park. Pam starts a relationship with Fred, a handsome blond 21-year-old, and has a baby with him, but Len refuses to leave because, unlike Pam, he is devoted to the child. Fred does not come to see Pam, even when she's ill, and takes no interest in the baby. When Pam wheels the baby in a pram through the park, she encounters Fred fishing and...
