Ever since the terrible discovery of his guilt that he killed his father and married his mother, the blind Oedipus has been wandering in exile, guided by his faithful daughter Antigone. At last he comes to a grove of the Eumenides, and here learns to his delight that he is near Colonus, where an oracle has foretold that he will at last find rest.
