The exiled Posthumus arrives in Rome, where he enters into a wager with the villainous Iachimo, betting that the latter could never seduce Imogen. In Britain Iachimo fails to tempt Imogen, but pretends that he has won his bet. In despair over her supposed infidelity, Posthumus orders her death.
