Mick, a man in his late twenties, is sitting alone in a room, heaped with junk. He quickly leaves when he hears people approaching. Aston, a man in his early thirties, enters, followed by an old tramp, Davies. Aston has rescued Davies from a fight in the street and now offers him a bed for the night. Davies, who is also known as Jenkins, claims that if he could get down to Sidcup, he could fetch his papers and sort out his life. The following morning Aston complains about the noises Davies was making in the night. Aston goes out, leaving Davies with a key.
