Irony The situational irony is based on the thought of Elizabeth, and what happened in the end of story was the opposite. She said “Eh, he’ll not come now till they bring him….. for I won’t wash him”, but in the end she washed him. She said “Never mind they’ll bring him when he does come – like a log”. She thought he will come like a log from drinking, but in the end he will come like a log but from death. She said “and he may sleep on the floor till he wakes himself, I know he’ll not go to work tomorrow after this” Really he will not because of death. She said all that she was angry, because of awareness, but when she knew that he is dead, she changed her mind, she accepted him, and washed him, her feeling also is changed, she had feelings of pity and sympathy. In the last scene the tragic end, full of sadness, crying weeping, she realized that her husband passed for ever she feel of isolation, she lost her husband.
