Weever, John

Weever, John (1586–1632),
poet. Born in Lancashire and educated at Queens' College, Cambridge, Weever neatly imitated the form of a Shakespearian sonnet in ‘Ad Gulielmum Shakespear’, printed in his Epigrams (1599). Perhaps he had seen unpublished Shakespeare sonnets, or had noticed the interpolated sonnets in Romeo and Juliet (1597).
