The fusion of Shakespeare and jazz has been somewhat limited. The most famous jazz-inspired Shakespeare setting is Leonard Bernstein's West Side Story (1957), a modernized musical version of Romeo and Juliet (see musicals). Also composed that year was Duke Ellington's Such Sweet Thunder, a suite of twelve pieces for jazz orchestra inspired by Shakespeare's works and written in collaboration with Billy Strayhorn. John Dankworth's Shakespeare & All That Jazz (recorded by Cleo Laine) contains settings of various Shakespearian lyrics, including three for Twelfth Night composed originally for the City of London Festival in 1964. The work also includes the songs ‘The Compleat Works’ and ‘Dunsinane Blues’.
