Zingerle, Ignaz Vinzenz

Zingerle, Ignaz Vinzenz (1825–92) and Zingerle, Joseph (1831–91),
German folklorists. Ignaz was a literary historian and poet, and Joseph was a priest and professor of theology. Together they collected folk tales and legends in southern Germany and Austria. Their most important collections were Kinder‐ und Hausmärchen aus Tirol (Children and Household Tales from Tyrol, 1852) and Kinder‐ und Hausmärchen aus Süddeutschland (Children and Household Tales from Southern Germany, 1852). Their emphasis was on the mythological aspects of folk and fairy tales.
