Kunze, Reiner
Kunze, Reiner (1933– ),German writer and lyric poet. He was born in the former German Democratic Republic, where he lived and worked as a freelance writer until his emigration to West Germany in 1977. His prose and poetry have been translated into 30 languages. He also wrote several children's books, among them the fairy‐tale collection Der Löwe Leopold (The Lion Leopold, 1970), including a sequel to ‘Snow White’, in which he provides a different ending for the wicked stepmother, and the fairy‐tale volume Eine stadtbekannte Geschichte (A Story Known All Over Town, 1982).
