The Apple Tree
Apple Tree, The,a 1966 Broadway musical by Jerry Bock (music) and Sheldon Harnick (lyrics) that utilized two American fairy tales in its three playlets: Frank Stockton's 1882 short story ‘The Lady or the Tiger?’, about a captain who determines his fate by choosing one of two doors concealing a bride or a beast, and Jules Feiffer's ‘Passionella’, a modern spoof on ‘Cinderella’ about a chimney sweep who magically becomes a sexy movie star but only finds happiness in the arms of a mousy Mr Brown.
