Quietism
Quietism,a form of religious mysticism (originated before 1675 by Molinos ), consisting in passive devotional contemplation, with extinction of the will and withdrawal from all things of the senses [OED]. One of the best-known exponents of Quietist doctrines was Fénelon , whose Maximes des saints, embodying his opinions, was condemned by Rome. Another noted Quietist was Mme Guyon ( 1648 – 1717 ).
