Porter, Katherine Anne

Porter, Katherine Anne ( 1890 – 1980 ),
Texan-born short story writer and novelist whose collections of short stories include Flowering Judas ( 1930 ), Pale Horse, Pale Rider ( 1939 ), and The Leaning Tower ( 1944 ). Her novel Ship of Fools ( 1962 ) is a heavily allegorical treatment of a voyage from Mexico to Germany on the eve of Hitler's rise to power.
