Guzmán de Alfarache

Guzmán de Alfarache,
a Spanish picaresque romance , the second of its kind (the successor of Lazarillo de Tormes ) by Mateo Alemán ( 1547 – c. 1614 ). It was translated into English (as The Rogue) in 1622 and published with an introductory poem by Jonson .—

Guzmán is by turns scullion, thief, gentleman, beggar, soldier, and page.
