Carson, Rachel
Carson, Rachel ( 1907 – 64 ),American zoologist, educated at Johns Hopkins University, who is remembered as a pioneer ecologist and popularizer of scientific information. Her works include The Sea around Us ( 1951 ), The Edge of the Sea ( 1955 ), and Silent Spring ( 1963 ), a powerful attack on the indiscriminate use of pesticides and weed-killers.
