Cambridge Bibliography of English Literature
Cambridge Bibliography of English Literature,an invaluable reference work in four volumes, edited by F. W. Bateson , published 1940 , with a supplement, edited by George Watson , 1957 . It was succeeded by the New Cambridge Bibliography of English Literature of which vol. i (600–1660) appeared in 1974 ; vol. ii (1660–1800) in 1971 ; vol. iii (1800–1900) in 1969 , all edited by Watson. Vol. iv (1900–50), edited by I. R. Willison , appeared in 1972 , and vol. v (the Index), compiled by J. D. Pickles , in 1977 .
