she lived for some years in the family circle of

Fox
, to whose Monthly Repository she contributed. She wrote a historical verse drama about martyrdom, Vivia Perpetua (
1841
), but is remembered as a writer of
hymns
, which include ‘Nearer, my God, to Thee’ (
c.
1834
).
