Simon Hornblower is Professor of Classics and Ancient History at University College London. He is editor with Antony Spawforth of the acclaimed third edition of the Oxford Classical Dictionary (revised 2003) and an editor and contributor to volume 6 of the Cambridge Ancient History (1994). His other books include a major commentary on Thucydides for OUP and The Greek World 479–323 BC.
Antony Spawforth is Senior Lecturer in Ancient History and Greek Archaeology at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, where he is also Curator of the Shefton Museum of Greek Art. He is also a well-known presenter of television programmes on archaeological and classical subjects in the BBC series ‘Ancient Voices’. In addition to the Oxford Classical Dictionary, his publications include Hellenistic and Roman Sparta, A Tale of Two Cities.
