Walsh, Robert
Walsh, Robert( 1784–1859),Federalist journalist who edited The American Register (1809–10) and other journals, was a professor at the University of Pennsylvania (1828–33), wrote An Appeal from the Judgments of Great Britain Respecting the United States of America (1819), defending this nation from the views of English writers and visitors, and collected his various papers in Didactics: Social, Literary, and Political (2 vols., 1836), the occasion of Poe's eulogy of him as a thinker, scholar, and writer.
