The Paris Review
Paris Review, The ( 1929– ),quarterly journal of poetry, fiction, art and literary criticism and commentary, edited from Paris and New York. It emphasizes the contemporary but its tastes are catholic as indicated by its contributors who have included Malcolm Cowley, Jack Kerouac, Philip Roth, W.D. Snodgrass, William Styron, and Joyce Carol Oates. It has featured a notable series of interviews with a variety of authors, including Eliot, Frost, Hemingway, Huxley, Voznesensky, and Joan Didion, some gathered in collections, beginning with Writers at Work (1958), that reached a sixth volume in 1984. One of the founders, William Styron, edited a collection of its Best Short Stories (1959) from the early years.
