MacDonald, John D[ann]
MacDonald, John D[ann]( 1916–86),popular writer of mystery novels under his own name and several pseudonyms, some of the works featuring his detective, Travis McGee. He also wrote several works of science fiction. In addition to 65 novels (1946–80) said to have sold 70,000,000 copies, he published 500 stories in magazines.
