L'Amour, Louis [Dearborn]
L'Amour, Louis [Dearborn]( 1910?–88),North Dakota-born novelist, long resident in Los Angeles, whose huge output of 200 novels and 14 books of stories, all on the Far West, sold 182,000,000 copies by 1987. He was awarded a Presidential Medal of Freedom (1984). His posthumously published Education of a Wandering Man (1989) reveals that his name was originally Louis LaMoore.
