Ladd, William

Ladd, William( 1778–1841),
New England author and lecturer on world peace, founded the American Peace Society (1828), edited the Harbinger of Peace, and wrote An Essay on a Congress of Nations (1840), proposing institutions whose essential features are to be found in the League of Nations, the World Court, and the Hague Conferences. His ideas were popularized by Elihu Burritt.
