Garrigue, Jean
Garrigue, Jean( 1914–72),Indiana-born poet, educated at the University of Chicago, published her poetry in The Ego and the Centaur (1947), The Monument Rose (1953), A Water Walk by Villa d'Este (1959), Country Without Maps (1964), New and Selected Poems (1967), and Studies for an Actress (1973). The poems are marked by glittering imagery influenced by Wallace Stevens and by sensitivity to the natural scene and to art. She also wrote a novel, The Animal Hotel (1966).
