Garcés, Francisco TomáS Hermenegildo
Garcés, Francisco TomáS Hermenegildo( 1738–81),Spanish missionary and explorer, established missions on the Gila and Colorado rivers, and accompanied Anza to California (1774–75). He was killed by Indians. His diaries were published in Elliott Coues's On the Trail of a Spanish Pioneer (2 vols., 1900).
