The Echo
Echo, The,verse satire published in the American Mercury (1791–1805), collected in 1807, by Theodore Dwight, Richard Alsop, Lemuel Hopkins, E.H. Smith, and Mason Cogswell. These Connecticut Wits' attacks on anti-Federalism in press and politics run from travesty of journalistic rodomontade to satire of Jefferson.
